Practical guide
A 10-point checklist for parents and students. Use this before visiting any institute or paying any fees.
Fix the exam and target year before shortlisting any institute. JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET UG and MHT-CET each require different preparation strategies. Mixing targets without clarity wastes time.
Ask about qualifications, experience and — most importantly — who will actually teach your batch. Star teachers are often used for demos but may not teach regular batches. Confirm in writing.
Smaller batches mean better attention. Ask the student-teacher ratio. A batch of 20–35 students gives far more doubt-clearing opportunity than a batch of 80+.
Is the full syllabus completed early enough to allow two full rounds of revision plus mock tests before the exam? Ask for the yearly schedule in writing.
Regular tests with detailed performance feedback matter more than the total test count. Ask how errors are analysed and whether individual feedback is provided to each student.
Ask how, when and by whom doubts are solved. Is there a dedicated doubt session each week? Can students approach teachers directly? Institutes without a clear doubt system hurt learning.
Is the material updated for the current exam pattern? Is it exam-oriented and included in the fee, or sold separately? Ask to see a sample module before joining.
Get the complete fee structure and refund policy in writing before paying anything. Ask about all additional charges — material, test series, uniform, registration. No surprises after admission.
Ask for year-wise results of students who completed the full course — not just toppers. How many enrolled, how many appeared in the exam, and how many were selected?
A demo class shows teaching style and whether the student feels comfortable. Talking to current students gives unfiltered opinions that no brochure will tell you.
